Surf Zombies

Surf zombies are seemingly lifeless beings that stand by the sea, motionless for hours, watching surfers with the cold stare of a hungry shark.

Their eerie silhouettes scatter the shoreline like tombstones, forcing intrepid surfers to circumnavigate the seaside cemetery.

Ok, I’m getting carried away now but you know the people I mean. They’re usually an assortment of indecisive surfers, hypnotized wave lovers and concerned parents.

A ‘surf zombie’ is anyone who spends too much time looking at the surf and not enough time splashing about in it. Here’s what I mean:

North Shore surf zombies

Surf zombies at Vieux Boucau, France

North Devon surf zombies

Surf zombies meditating at The Cribbar

Surf zombies at high tide

Friendly zombies

Sunset surf zombies
