Girls Can’t Surf – Documentary

Girls Can’t Surf – an inspirational documentary

Wait! Before you start writing angry comments and social posts about how I’m a sexist, misogynistic pig …

Girls Can’t Surf is a feature length documentary about how a group of female renegade surfers changed the surfing world forever.

It’s a stunning and inspirational true story and it’s in cinemas from 19th August 2022.

I highly recommend you go and watch this.

Not another boring documentary

It’s the 1980s, the ‘golden age of surfing’! For the men at least.

The film follows a band of female surfers who wouldn’t accept the status quo and achieved what many said couldn’t be done: make women’s surfing professional.

Girls Can’t Surf is a wild ride of clashing personalities, sexism, adventure and heartbreak. Each woman fought against the odds to make their dreams of competing professionally – and on equal terms - a reality.

Featuring interviews and personal stories from surfing legends Jodie Cooper, Frieda Zamba, Pauline Menczer, Lisa Andersen, Pam Burridge, Wendy Botha, Layne Beachley and more.

If you didn’t know and respect these women before watching, they’ll be forever ingrained in your memory after.

GIRLS CAN’T SURF WILL BE RELEASING IN CINEMAS FROM AUGUST 19TH.

Also available to rent on your favourite streaming channels.
