Erica Hosseini – Super Model or Super Surfer?

Erica Hosseini is a professional surfer and professional model, with ambitions to be a professional actor.

There is little denying that Erica Hosseini is super, but can you really be a professional model and be taken seriously as a professional surfer?

With the exception of Alana Blanchard, it’s a balancing act that few top women surfers have successfully achieved. So has Erica Hosseini got what it takes?

Super surfer

Whilst Erica has always been sports mad, it took 11 years before she started surfing. At 13 years old, Erica began competing in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA), but her first year was fruitless.

However, Erica persisted and the following year she entered her first pro event and came second. Making her the youngest surfer (male or female) ever to make the final of an ASP event.

In the last 10 years Erica has won many NSSA titles, junior titles and pro events. She follows the WQS tour full time and is currently #33 in the ASP Women’s World Rankings.

Super Model

As an attractive and athletic American woman with perfect curves, hair and teeth – it’s probably not surprising that Erica Hosseini’s career as a model is successful.

Modelling for her sponsors is a natural partnership, as it is for many athletes. Erica models in ads for her sponsors who include Oakley, Casio Baby G, Flip Flop Shops, Jose Cuervo, Jacks Surfboards and Sector 9.

On top of her sponsorship commitments, you will find Erica in many magazines including an appearance as Bo Derek in Defy Magazine or as her alluring self in Stab magazine.

Super model or super surfer?

I think both and here’s why:

• Erica has won many surfing titles over many years, proving her a successful surfer
• Erica still competes at the highest levels on a regular basis
• Erica is not the only surfer to have posed naked. Kelly Slater and Steph Gilmore have also bared all.
• Malia Manuel, currently ranked #1 in the ASP Women’s World Rankings, has won just $32,000 on tour with only 2 events to go. Is it any wonder that professional women surfers need other incomes?

I believe Erica Hosseini is both a super surfer AND a super model, and hopefully her current surfing roles in 90210 will open the door to a career as professional actor.
