Surfers rarely have much money, due to spending too much time in the sea and not enough time on their career. So unlike wealthy business folk, surfers often have few possessions.
Fortunately, there’s a whole range of surfing gifts to suit all budgets. Here’s some Surfer Dad suggestions on how to make your surfer friend or lover happy this Christmas.
#1 Surfboard
The ultimate gift. In fact I was once lucky enough to get a longboard for a birthday gift. It provided more pleasure than any other present I’ve ever had (before I snapped it). If you’ve got the cash, and a special surfer someone – end of list.
#2 Rash vest
Most rash vests become smelly, threadbare and crusty after a year or two, so a new one is always welcome. And no-one likes putting on a soggy rashy, so it’s nice to have a dry spare.
#3 Wetsuit bag
Soggy wetsuits are the culprits for many suspicious smells in our humble automobiles. So protect the car interior from those urine scented secretions with a waterproof bag to stash wetties in transport.
#4 Warm hat
Keep a head warm after a cold winter surf. Most hats never get washed, so keep a beautiful bonce fresh and cosy with a new beany beneath the Xmas tree.
#5 Surfboard leash
Surfers should always have a back up leash in the car, but most surfers are too tight to keep a spare. So save a lucky surfer the pain of premature evacuation from the sea, by getting them a spare leash this Christmas.
#6 Sex Wax air freshner
Most surfer’s cars lack high hygiene standards, and what fragrance can be better than Sex Wax.
#7 Surfboard repair kit
We all ding our board at some point no matter how careful we are. So save a little ding turning into full board decay, with some Solarez at the ready (or something similar).

Often referred to as the surfing bible, virtually every surfer worth their salt has a battered well travelled copy somewhere. But did you know there are now three volumes? Get the ultimate paperback trilogy.
